    Local roundup: Waterford remains unbeaten in Zone 6 play

    Waterford — Mike Rocchetti scored three runs and stole a base as Waterford remained unbeaten with a 5-2 win over Danielson in a Zone 6 American Legion baseball game on Friday.

    Kevin Petchark went six innings for the win, allowing six hits and two runs with five strikeouts and two walks. Kevin Johnson, who stole two bases, pitched the seventh inning to earn a save. Justin Keating had two hits for Waterford (14-0).

    District 10 baseball (11-12)

    • Ethan Mireault and Dylan Meyer had three hits each as Mystic beat Lyme/Old Lyme 20-1. Jackson LaLima, Jose Rodriguez, Meyer and Mireault drove in three runs each and Ryan Carney and Luke Noreika had two RBI each for Mystic. Mireault also doubled twice. Chad Coughlin homered for Lyme/Old Lyme.

    • Tito Arias and Derrel Mitchell homered as New London beat Groton 12-0.

    • East Lyme beat Montville 11-3 as winning pitcher Gavin O'Brien allowed two hits over four innings. Chris Martin, who hit a two-run homer, and Anthony Enos (two RBI) had two hits each for East Lyme. Willie Klinefelter homered for Montville. 

    District 10 softball (9-10)

    • Waterford wrapped up the top seed in the semifinals with a 4-0 win over Salem/Bozrah. Alexa Collins pitched a shutout with nine strikeouts and also had two hits, including a triple. Catcher Melanie Martin threw out two runners and was 2-for-2 with a double and RBI. Zoe Zito was 2-for-3 with a triple, Grace Muti doubled home a run and Lyra DeAngelis also drove in a run for Waterford, which finished pool play 4-0.

    • Emma Bayor pitched a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts as Lyme/Old Lyme advanced to the semifinals with a 4-1 win over Groton/Mystic.

    District 10 baseball (9-10)

    • East Lyme beat Pawcatuck 19-1 on Thursday. Jack Hayes, Chris Cambi and A.J. Montejano had three hits each for East Lyme. Pawcatuck's Tyler Cimini was 2-for-2 with an RBI.
