Norwich Salvation Army will hold red kettle kickoff event Friday

Norwich - The Norwich Salvation Army will kick off its Christmas red kettle collection drive Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dime Bank headquarters and bank branch at 290 Salem Turnpike.

A ceremony to launch the drive will be held at noon and is open to the public.

The Norwich Salvation Army has set this season's goal at $90,000, as the agency continues to recover from the August fire that damaged its building at 262 Main St.

The Salvation Army is seeking volunteer and civic organizations to help run kettle collections this season. Contact Capt. Jerry Uttley, (860) 889-2329, at the agency's temporary office in the basement of the United Congregational Church, 87 Broadway, Norwich.
