Region under winter weather advisory as spring arrives

Three Waterford firefighters stand in the swirling snow at the scene of multiple motor vehicle accidents on Route 85 Friday, March 20, 2015.

Southern New London and southern Middlesex counties are under a winter weather advisory until 2 a.m. Saturday with snow accumulations from 2 to 5 inches predicted. The National Weather Service indicates hazardous road conditions are possible due to limited visibility and slippery conditions.

Pedestrians cross Main Street in Old Saybrook against the newly falling snow, as winter proves that it's not done yet on the first day of spring Friday, March 20, 2015.
