Families can register for Great Park Pursuit until Friday

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection announced Tuesday that registration is extended through Friday for the 2015 Great Park Pursuit – Connecticut State Parks Family Adventure at www.NoChildLeftInside.org.

Great Park Pursuit program is free, but some parks have an entrance fee. Registrants will receive a bracelet that allows them to get into the park for free for that day's program. Families who attend all seven weeks of the program will be eligible to receive a prize of a 2015 state park pass, which provides free parking at parking locations where fees are charged.

To be eligible for the final prize, families must register by Friday, attend all weeks of the game, and check in at the registration at each location and provide documentation that they attended the self-guided events.

The 10th anniversary of the Great Park Pursuit will kick off with family Fishing Day May 9 at Gay City State Park in Hebron and end June 20 at a location which will be announced as the game progresses.

There will also be activities at a different state park on the five Saturdays in between. Families will learn the location of these activities by following clues at www.NoChildLeftInside.org.

The Great Park Pursuit is a series of activities designed to introduce families to the outdoors, build the next generation of environmental stewards and showcase Connecticut’s State Parks and Forests, DEEP said in a news release
