East Lyme — Flanders Fire Department firefighters extinguished a blaze Friday at 9 Lovers Lane that destroyed a pool shed, but caused no injuries or damage beyond the shed itself.

Fire Marshal Richard Morris said a preliminary investigation into the fire's cause is ongoing, as emergency responders rule out certain scenarios and gather more information from the owners.

The owners had a pool pump and a wood-burning furnace on site, said Morris.

Both Niantic and Flanders fire departments initially responded to the fire that was called in at 12:47 p.m., before it was decided only one engine company was needed, he said. Emergency operations center personnel also responded.

The firefighters, led by Flanders Fire Department Chief James Levandoski, quickly put out the fire, Morris said.
