Candlelight vigil planned to commemorate Memorial Day in New London

New London — The 8th annual pre-Memorial Day candlelight vigil will be held Sunday at 8 p.m. on Parade Plaza.
The vigil is held every year to honor those who lost their lives fighting for our country, veterans and to support those currently on active duty.
The lighting ceremony will begin promptly at 8 p.m. and will feature fifth-grade students from Nathan Hale Arts Magnet School, the New London High School band and New London High School's Naval Junior ROTC chapter.
Luminaries can be purchased for $1 starting at 7 p.m. In the event of rain, the lighting ceremony will be moved to the lobby of Union Station.
