Editor's note: The name of Jefferson Harris was corrected in this version.

New London — Three Connecticut-based businesses have became the first corporate sponsors of this year's Connecticut Maritime Heritage Festival.

People's United Bank, Frontier Communications and F&F Distributors have been recognized at ctmaritimefest.com and will be mentioned in material printed about the Sept. 9-12 event.

Festival Executive Committee Member and Assistant Treasurer Jefferson Harris also is a sponsor.

The festival, to be hosted on the New London waterfront, will feature a schooner race, a Captain's Ball, an art show, the Great New London Chowder Challenge and an appearance of the tall ship Oliver Hazard Perry.
