Montville Democrats endorse McDaniel for mayor, five incumbents for council

Montville — The Democratic Town Committee endorsed Mayor Ronald McDaniel Jr. for re-election to a second four-year term during a party caucus Tuesday and also endorsed five incumbent Democratic Town Council members.

“I'm very thankful for all the support and encouragement I've received from people throughout the community,” McDaniel said Wednesday. "We progress in Montville as a team.”

Along with McDaniel, the town committee endorsed incumbent Town Council Chairman Joseph Jaskiewicz, Vice Chairman Billy Caron and council members Laura Tanner, Chuck Longton and Tim May.

The caucus also endorsed Board of Education incumbent James Wood and new school board candidate Dan Boisvert.

Three candidates, incumbent Rich Gladue and newcomers Joseph Berady and Joseph McDaniel, were endorsed for Zoning Board of Appeals, and newcomer Florence Turner was endorsed for Board of Assessment Appeals.

DTC Chairman Joseph Jaskiewicz said there were no challenges to the endorsements.

Montville Republicans will meet at 6 p.m. on Thursday to determine their slate.
