NAACP to hold annual Freedom Fund Banquet on Thursday

New London — The New London Branch of the NAACP will hold its annual Freedom Fund Banquet from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the Port 'N' Starboard Restaurant at Ocean Beach Park.

The theme of the banquet is Pursuing Liberty in the Face of Justice and the featured speaker will be state Senate President pro Tempore Martin Looney.

Looney is serving his 12th term in the Senate, is chairman of the Judiciary Committee and the highest rankling legislator in the General Assembly.

Community awards will be presented to James and Sherburne Stidfole of the Hygienic Art Center and an educator award to the Athletic Department of New London High School.
