Back-to-school haircuts in Ledyard

Chris Frye of Ledyard, a barber at Gabe's Barber Shop in Groton, cuts the hair of eight-year-old Ty Curtis of Ledyard, Wednesday, August 19, 2015. Curtis who is a third-grader at Juliet W. Long Elementary School in Gales Ferry, is receiving a free haircut today, along with other students in Ledyard's school system at Gabe's and the Mirror Image in Gales Ferry. The haircuts are paid by the Ledyard Police Union, and this is the third year for the program. Gabe's owner Gabe Muntimuri of Ledyard estimates they did about 30 haircuts today. (Tim Martin/The Day)
