Veterans' resource fair to be held Saturday in Pawcatuck

Stonington — A veterans’ resource fair, with information ranging from disabilities claims to education and home loan assistance, will be held Saturday at the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center on Chase Street in Pawcatuck between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

“Nowhere else will area veterans and members of the National Guard and Reserves find as much information about benefits, VA home loans, DD 214 recovery, service-connected disability claims assistance and all the entitlements a military service member has earned, than under this one roof,” said Tim Yuhas of Niantic, district commander of the American Legion.

Service officers from the veterans service organizations will be on hand to provide free assistance and information to anyone who has served in any branch of the armed forces. Veterans will also receive the latest information on issues of importance to veterans under consideration in the 111th Congress and how to contact their elected representatives.

Local community colleges will have representatives available to discuss educational benefits, the Veterans Administration will provide free health screening and the state will have information on the jobs available to veterans in the area.
