Stonington shellfishing areas temporarily closed

Stonington — The town's Shellfish Commission has closed two areas due to heavy rain Tuesday.

No one will be permitted to harvest clams, oysters or mussels in Area A and Outer Quiambaug Cove for at least seven days, the commission said in a release Tuesday evening. To check on the status of these areas, people may call the commission's information line at (860) 599-7575.
