East Lyme budget referendum to be held Thursday

East Lyme — The referendum for the town's 2018-19 budget will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the East Lyme Community Center.
The total proposed budget is $71,787,140, or a 1.35 percent increase over the current budget.
The spending plan includes $47,576,943 for education, a 2.17 percent increase; $18,071,025 for general government, a 0.13 percent decrease; $5,369,986 for debt service, a 0.07 percent decrease; and $769,186 for capital, a 2.84 percent decrease, according to a presentation at last month's public hearing.
