New London man arrested for trying to entice minor

New London – State police arrested a New London man on Tuesday after he tried to entice an underage girl from New Jersey to travel to Connecticut to have sex with him, according to a news release.

Bryan White, 39, of 147 Shaw St., Apt. 2, New London, was charged with enticing a minor, criminal attempt to commit enticing a minor, risk of injury to a minor, criminal attempt to commit risk of injury to a minor and criminal attempt to commit second-degree sexual assault.

He was held on a $100,000 bond and scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on Wednesday.

The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office and High Tech Crimes Bureau in Burlington County, N.J., sought help on June 29 from the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit, the news release said. On June 16, police in Florence Township, N.J., and the prosecutor's office began investigating a complaint that someone living in Connecticut was talking in a sexually explicit manner to a juvenile female in New Jersey, the news release said.

The man was identified as White, a registered sex offender, the release said.

White asked the girl if she would travel to Connecticut to have sex with him, and believed she would arrive at the Greyhound bus station at 45 Water St. on Tuesday. The Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit and the New London Police Department conducted surveillance of the bus station on Tuesday and saw White waiting outside the terminal where buses arrive, at the time he thought the juvenile female would be there, the news release said.

White was then arrested and taken to the state police barracks.
