The St. Mary Church Blessing of the Fleet takes place Sunday, starting with a 10:30 a.m. Fishermen's Mass at St. Mary Church in Stonington borough.

Following the Mass that honors people who lost their lives at sea, the Blessing of the Fleet parade begins at 11:45 a.m. It travels from the Town Dock down Water Street, turning at Cannon Square and continuing up Main Street before ending back at the Town Dock.

There, Bishop of Norwich Michael Cote will board the fishing vessel Neptune. Peggy Krupinski — whose husband, Walter Krupinski, was a local commercial rod-and-reel fisherman who died last year when his small boat was hit by a 60-foot yacht off Watch Hill — will drop into the water a "broken anchor" wreath in memory of fishermen lost at sea.

Then, the Blessing of the Fleet Committee's family event commences on the Town Dock green. It will run from noon to 4 p.m. and will feature food and a concert by the Country Misfits.
