Waterford — The town’s Representative Town Meeting on Monday voted in favor of an appropriation to the town’s public works department to begin paving several roads near Gallup Lane.

Paving will begin on the section of Gallup Lane between Longview Avenue and Rope Ferry Road as soon as the town’s Utility Commission approves repairs to leaking water lines, Public Works Director Kristin Zawacki said Tuesday.

The $440,950 appropriation already was included in the capital improvement plan for the 2017 fiscal year, but the spending required approval from the Board of Selectmen, Board of Finance and the RTM, which finalized the approval with its vote Wednesday.

Zawacki said the roads in that area have not been paved in many years, and have begun to buckle in the winter.

“We’ll get it done,” she said.

The RTM on Monday also gave final approval for capital spending on replacement of underground fuel storage tanks at the public safety complex, a computer server for the school district, replacement of police radios, new furniture at the police department and replacement of the aging phone system at the town’s Emergency Operations Center.
