East Lyme to begin retrofitting streetlight with LEDs
East Lyme — The town is moving forward with retrofitting all of its streetlights with new LED fixtures. Work is slated to begin Monday, according to a town notice.
Red Thread, the electrical contractor, said it will have two crews doing about 30 fixtures a day. There are about 1,300 cobra-head fixtures through town, so the work will take about 5 to 6 weeks for this first phase. The contractor plans on moving through town from north to south.
The second phase will be changing out the fixtures on stand-alone poles, which should start in January.
