Chamber of Commerce Foundation hosts its annual Holiday Gala

The foundation of the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut is hosting its 33rd annual Holiday Gala on Friday, Dec. 9, from 5:30-9:30 p.m. at Mohegan Sun.

Proceeds from ticket sales and a silent auction will benefit children’s charities and other non-profit organizations that work with children and their families. Matt Levy, marketing and communications coordinator for the chamber, said the gala started as the Tommy Toy Fund Gala to benefit the organization’s mission to provide holiday toys for children in low-income families. The Tommy Toy Fund still receives a large grant from the foundation every year, but the foundation expanded to include other local organizations in 1994.

The 2015 Gala and the annual Bowl-A-Thon at High Rollers Luxury Lanes at Foxwoods raised more than $100,000 which was given as grants to 35 organizations, including a $10,000 grant to the Tommy Toy Fund and smaller grants to organizations such as Safe Futures, the Waterford Country School and the Norwich Community Backpack Program.

Tickets for the gala are $95 per person or $1,100 for a table of 10 and include hors d’oeuvres, champagne and a large silent auction. They can be purchased at www.chamberect.com/gala-tickets.
