Stonington residential property owners to receive revaluation data forms

Stonington — Vision Governmental Solutions will send out data mailers to residential property owners on Friday as it begins the 2017 revaluation process. Vision is the firm the town is using to help conduct the revaluation.

The data mailer includes property sketches and dimensions as well as a description of the codes used on the sketches. Residential property owners only need to return the mailer if information on it is incorrect. Corrections should be made on the form and submitted to the town within 10 days of receipt.

Commercial property owners will be advised to review their information online through the town’s geographical information system at http://gis.stonington-ct.gov/ags_map/.

In November, notices of property values will be sent to all property owners, at which time those who disagree with the valuation of their property can make an appointment for a hearing with Vision representatives.

After the town’s Department of Assessment reviews the outcomes of the hearings, property owners will be sent a second notice of the result of the hearing. The town then has an appeals process for those still dissatisfied with the valuation of their property.
