    Hospice announces new medical director

    Norwich — Dr. Vanessa Johnson has been named the new medical director for the hospice and palliative care program at The Center for Hospice Care, the center announced Thursday.

    Johnson is board certified in hospice and palliative medicine, hematology, oncology and internal medicine.

    She received her medical degree from the Cornell University Medical College in New York, N.Y., and completed her hematology and oncology fellowship at Brown University Medical School in Providence, R.I.

    An oncologist since 2002, she currently is practicing at Eastern Connecticut Hematology, Oncology in Norwich. She also is on the medical staff at The William W. Backus Hospital, Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam and Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London.
