RollinReds Beach Shanty to hold grand opening Saturday

Old Lyme — RollinReds Beach Shanty will host a grand opening celebration from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at 83 Hartford Ave., the former location of restaurant Sugar Shack.

The celebration will feature an appearance from a Minion from the "Despicable Me" and "Minions" movies from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. RollinReds co-partner Damien Speranza said families are encouraged to take pictures with the Minion while trying out the food.

Prior to its restaurant launch, RollinReds operated as a food truck for three years under the ownership of Randy Carroll. After Carroll expressed a desire to turn RollinReds into a restaurant, he and Speranza became partners and decided on the former Sugar Shack location.

"We are excited to be part of the Sound View Beach Community, and we hope to make an impression and be around for a long time," Speranza said.
