DEEP Celebrates Connecticut's Historic Gardens Day
Connecticut's Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, among other organizations, will be participating in Connecticut's Historic Garden Day at various sites around the state from noon to 4 p.m. June 25 free of charge.
Connecticut Historic Garden Day is now in its 14th year and is designed to increase awareness of the state's historical sites and gardens. It also serves as an opportunity to offer visitors a chance to explore the variety of garden styles. There are a total of fifteen Connecticut Historic Gardens.
Harkness Memorial State Park, Waterford
Tours of the garden and the history of the Harkness Estate, Eolia, will be presented free of charge from noon to 4 p.m. Tours of the mansion will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a suggested donation.

New London Country Historical Society and Shaw Mansion (NLCHS), New London
The historical society will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. free of charge. Free seed packets will be handed out while supplies last and at 2 p.m. there will be a free presentation on preservation. Rebecca Palmer, archivist at Connecticut College, will be presenting on the care and management of family archives. Participants are encouraged to bring along some sample materials for discussion and questions.

Florence Griswold Museum, Old Lyme
The Florence Griswold Museum will be offering free grounds admission and invites visitors to explore the gardens. There is also a featured exhibition called "Flora/Fauna: The Naturalist Impulse in American Art."
