    What’s open on July 4th in Connecticut?

    Government offices across the state — including DMV offices, post offices and town halls — will be closed Tuesday in observance of Independence Day.

    Local retail establishments’ hours will vary.

    Walmart, Target, Stop & Shop and ShopRite stores will be open their normal business hours. The Big Y supermarkets in Mystic and Norwich will close an hour early, at 9 p.m., and the Groton store will be open its normal business hours. Aldi supermarkets will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

    Banks and the stock market will be closed.

    Federal, state and municipal offices will be closed, as will libraries, schools and post offices. State parks will remain open, but SEAT buses will not be running.

    Shore Line East trains will be running on a weekend/holiday schedule.
