    Groton Ambulance to receive FEMA grant for first responder equipment

    Groton — Groton Ambulance will receive $67,044 in Federal Emergency Management Agency funding for two chest compression devices and a diesel exhaust system for first responders.

    Announced by U.S. Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy, D-Conn., and U.S. Reps. Joe Courtney, D-2nd District, and John Larson, D-1st District, the funding is part of the Assistance to Firefighter Grants program, which provides money for necessary equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles and training. The award was listed on the FEMA website.

    The grant program has existed since 2001.
