    USS Annapolis class joins the fleet

    Groton - Seventy-three sailors of "Class 15420" USS Annapolis (SSN-760) graduated from Basic Enlisted Submarine School on Friday, Sept. 18.

    Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class James Albin was Class Honorman with a 96.04 Grade Point Average. Albin continues in Basic Mechanical Skills, BMS, training.

    Seaman Samuel Cosgrove received the Navy Core Values Award for best exemplifying the standards and expectations of a Navy sailor. Cosgrove will also continue in BMS training.

    Fireman Apprentice 'Ierneshamah Quarles was recipient of the Submarine Heritage Award and continues in BMS training.

    Seaman Apprentice Nicholas Tankersley was meritoriously advanced because of his academic performance and also continues training in BMS.

    Seaman Apprentice Gerald Depoyster, Seaman Recruit Calvin McNeil, Seaman Apprentice Samuel Moore, Fireman Recruit Justin Gibson, Machinist's Mate 3rd Class Anthony Shuck, Seaman Michael Genno, Fireman Joshua Martiniez, Seaman Erik Medina, Seaman Kha Do, Electrician's Mate 3rd Class Shawn Knight, Seaman Natanael Melendez, and Seaman Nathanael Ashton were Graduates with Distinction.

    Basic Enlisted Submarine School is a six-week introduction to the basic theory, construction and operation of nuclear-powered submarines. In preparation for an assignment, sailors receive instruction on shipboard organization, submarine safety and escape procedures.
