AMC's 'Turn' finale features Benedict Arnold, Col. Ledyard

A sneak peek of the season finale of "Turn," AMC's popular show that is set during the American Revolution, appears to feature the death of rebel Col. William Ledyard at the hands of British soldiers under the command of Gen. Benedict Arnold during the Battle of Groton Heights.

The opening clip shows an American officer handing over a sword to a British redcoat officer, who in turn stabs the American officer with the sword a moment later. Redcoat soldiers then fire on American soldiers, many of whom are kneeling on the ground with their hands in the air. During the battle, which took place Sept. 6, 1781, at Fort Griswold in Groton, British soldiers continued their attack on rebel soldiers who had surrendered. A memorial at Fort Griswold marks the spot where Ledyard was run through with his own sword.

Also in the episode clip, the Arnold character rides up to stop the killing as a city burns in the background. Arnold's forces burned much of Groton and New London during the battle.

Episode 10 of Season 4 — which also features the Battle of Yorktown, Va., the last major engagement of the war — is scheduled to air at 9 p.m. Saturday. Full episodes also are available on the network's website, www.amc.com.
