Pilot injured when plane goes off runway in Westerly

Westerly — Authorities say the pilot suffered minor injuries when a twin-engine plane went off the runway at Westerly State Airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration says the plane made an emergency landing at about 9:30 a.m. Monday after the landing gear malfunctioned. The FAA says he pilot experienced problems with his right engine after takeoff.
Images from the scene show the Piper Seneca resting on its belly in a grassy area off the runway.
Normal airport operations resumed shortly after the accident.
