Police say man tried to swipe $5,000 chips at Mohegan Sun

Mohegan — Tribal police arrested a Meriden man Saturday for allegedly trying to steal numerous $5,000 gaming chips at Mohegan Sun casino.

Eric Grimes, 37, of 49 Randolph Ave., Meriden, was charged with attempted third-degree robbery, attempted first-degree larceny and breach of peace.

Police said Grimes tried to forcibly steal the chips from a casino gaming table while a dealer tried to block his attempts.

Held in lieu of a $10,000 cash bond, Grimes is scheduled to appear May 14 in Norwich Superior Court.
