Groton teacher, assistant athletic director charged in domestic incident

Waterford — Leo R. Facchini, a science teacher and assistant athletic director at Robert E. Fitch High School, was arrested Thursday following an incident at the home of his ex-wife.

Facchini, 60, of 15 Gunshot Road, Waterford, was charged with disorderly conduct, third-degree burglary and second-degree stalking.

The alleged victim is his ex-wife, Patricia Trolan, who lives at 22 Gunshot Road, according to court records. Their divorce was finalized on June 8, according to the state Judicial Branch Website.

A police report of the incident was not made public. Facchini's attorney, Michael E. Satti, said police were called to the scene by Trolan's son and that Trolan was not home at the time.

"There was no domestic incident," Satti said. "Ms. Trolan wasn't at the house. That's reflected in the police report."

Waterford police set Facchini's bond at $50,000 bond, which he posted. At his arraignment Friday in New London Superior Court, Judge Omar A. Williams released Facchini on a written promise to appear in court again on Aug. 5.

The judge issued a protective order prohibiting Facchini from having contact with Trolan. The case was referred to the court's Family Relations division, which reviews domestic cases and recommends services.

"My expectation is that he'll do what he's supposed to do," said Facchini's attorney.
