Fatal pedestrian crash in Preston

Preston — State police in Montville are investigating a fatal car crash involving a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, James Hubbard, 46, of Norwich, was killed shortly after 1:20 a.m. Friday on Route 2 in the area of Maynard Hill Road.

Two cars — a Nissan and a Volkswagen— were involved in the accident but police did not release any details about the cause of the crash or how it happened. The driver and the passenger in the Volkswagen had no apparent injuries and neither did the driver of the Nissan, according to police. The roadway was closed for investigation and reopened shortly after 6 a.m. Friday.

Any witnesses are asked to call Troop E in Montville at (860) 858-6500 and ask to speak with Trooper Gardner.
