    Police nab second suspect in Norwich home invasion case

    Norwich — City police have arrested a second man in connection with an armed home invasion on April 24 on Reynolds Street.

    Elijah Griffin, 25, of 60 West St., New London, was charged Thursday with home invasion, first-degree robbery, criminal possession of a firearm, fifth-degree larceny, three counts of unlawful restraint, three counts of reckless endangerment and second-degree assault.

    He is also facing drug and weapons charges stemming from an April 30 arrest and is being held in lieu of $750,000 at the MacDougall-Walker Correctional Institution. He is due back in court on July 28.

    On June 24, police arrested 25-year-old Leroy Thomas of 66 Boulder Drive, New London, in connection with the Reynolds Street incident. Thomas was charged by warrant with home invasion, first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, first-degree unlawful restraint, fifth-degree larceny and three counts of first-degree reckless endangerment.

    Thomas has another pending case in which he faces 10 felony charges, including drug sales and possession charges.

    He is being held at the Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Institution and is due in New London Superior Court on Monday.

    Sgt. Peter B. Camp told The Day in a written statement in June that the arrest was the result of a lengthy investigation by community police Officers Kenneth Wright and Dennis Bialowas, along with detectives.
