New London opens cooling center as temps soar

New London — With temperatures soaring into the 90s, Mayor Daryl Justin Finizio Wednesday announced he is opening the city’s cooling center at the Martin Center in the Senior Center at 120 Broad St.
The cooling center will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday.
Anyone seeking shelter from the hot weather outside of regular business hours should call the state hotline at 2-1-1.
