New London — A 40-year-old city woman was charged with driving under the influence and other offenses early Monday after crashing her car into a utility pole in the area of 42 Jefferson Ave., according to police Capt. Brian M. Wright.

Responders to the 12:58 a.m. crash found an unoccupied 2004 Chrysler Pacifica with heavy front end damage and deployed airbags. They located Tondra Bryant, of 48 Warren St., and after administering sobriety tests, charged her with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to drive right, driving an unregistered vehicle and driving an uninsured vehicle, Wright said.

Bryant refused medical treatment at the scene.
