Norwich — Several road closures and parking bans will be in effect Saturday for the Winterfest 5K Road Race and Parade.

The event includes a 10:30 a.m. children's run and an 11 a.m. 5K — both of which begin at 108 Crescent St. — as well as a 1 p.m. parade that begins on Broadway near Chelsea Parade.

The parade this year will travel south on Broadway, east on Broad Street and south on McKinley Avenue before continuing south on Franklin Street and ending in Franklin Square.

Officials expect the parking bans and traffic detours to begin at 9 a.m. and end around 5 p.m.

At 9 a.m., the following areas will become no-parking zones:Washington Street: East side, adjacent to Chelsea ParadeCrescent Street: Both sides, from Chelsea Parade South to BroadwayChelsea Parade South: Both sides, entire lengthBroadway: Both sides, from Broad Street to Washington StreetBroad Street: Both sides, from Broadway to McKinley AvenueMcKinley Avenue: Both sides, from Broad Street to Franklin StreetFranklin Street: Both sides, from McKinley Avenue to Franklin SquareMain Street: Both sides, from Burnham Square to Shannon CornerBroadway (lower): Left side of street from Union Square

The Main Street and Market Street parking garages will remain accessible throughout the day. Residents and visitors also can use the City Hall parking decks.
