Stonington, Colchester police release Click It or Ticket results

Two more police departments have released the results of their participation in the fall 2015 country-wide Click It or Ticket campaign, which lasted from Nov. 23 to Monday.

In Stonington, police said they gave 32 citations out to motorists who weren't wearing their seat belts.

Stonington police said funding from the state Department of Transportation's Highway Safety Office supplemented their participation in the campaign.

Colchester police said that, during the same time period, they handed out three seat belt infractions, two speed-related infractions, five speed-related warnings, one driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs arrest, five other motor vehicle-related infractions and 10 other motor vehicle-related warnings.

In Colchester, police said they also conducted two visual surveys of 200 vehicles, one on Nov. 17 and one on Tuesday.

On both occasions, the observing officer was checking for drivers' shoulder belt usage.

According to police, 88.5 percent of drivers were wearing seat belts during the Nov. 17 survey and 90 percent were doing so during the Tuesday survey.
