New London — Police on Thursday morning made four arrests following an investigation into a late November shooting after which they recovered an AK-47 assault rifle.

Two of the arrests stemming from the Nov. 29 incident at 48 Crystal Ave. — where the Thames River Apartments are located — were the result of arrest warrants.

Rashon A. Saunders, 27, 60 Boulder Drive, was charged with first-degree criminal attempt to commit assault, unlawful discharge of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment and violation of a protective order.

Andre N. Cluff, 27, of 111 Truman St., was charged with first-degree criminal attempt to commit assault, criminal possession of a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a high capacity magazine.

The other two arrests resulted from search warrants for apartments A41 and A78 at 48 Crystal Ave.

Nehamiah Carrol, 24, of 48 Crystal Ave., Apt. A78, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a drug factory, possession of a hallucinogen, possession of narcotics, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of marijuana with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a housing project.

Jeffery Saunders, 25, of Bronx, N.Y., was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a drug factory.

According to police, multiple weapons were fired during the Nov. 29 incident, including the Norinco AK-47 rifle that police recovered at the scene on the night of the shooting.

Police said that they, with assistance from the Connecticut State Police Statewide Narcotics Task Force-East, served the two search warrants around 9:30 Thursday morning.

While executing the search warrants, police said, officers located evidence from the Nov. 29 shooting. They didn't clarify what that evidence was.

Police did not say whether anyone was injured as a result of the shooting.
