UPDATED: Plainfield police looking for robber in Citizens Bank heist

Plainfield — Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who robbed the Citizens Bank branch at 16 Railroad Ave. around 9:50 a.m. Friday.

Witnesses reported to police that a white man, who did not appear to have a weapon, entered the bank and demanded money.

The robber is described as being in his early 30s, 6'0" to 6'4" tall, and of slender build.

He was wearing a Carhartt-type dark-colored vest with a navy blue hooded sweatshirt underneath.

He entered and exited through the rear door of the bank, according to police, and then walked to a parked vehicle in the Village Square Complex lot closest to Windsor Avenue, police said.

Police released an updated description of the suspected car involved around 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

The vehicle is believed to be similar to a 2000-2001 white Nissan Maxima with a front black grill.

The vehicle was seen entering the wrong way into the parking lot of Village Square Complex Plaza from Railroad Avenue around 9:40 a.m. on Friday.

The same vehicle was seen around 9:50 a.m. exiting the parking lot from the same location at high speed, passing a black vehicle as it turned right onto Railroad Avenue heading westbound toward Canterbury, police said.
