Police arrest five in New London in connection to tainted heroin
New London — Members of the Statewide Narcotics Task Force – East arrested five people Tuesday after searching an Amity Street home and finding fentanyl-laced heroin, according to state police.
Police said they found more than 10 grams of heroin that field-tested positive for fentanyl when they carried out a search-and-seizure warrant on the second floor of 15 Amity St.
Officers also found a "small amount" of crack cocaine and packaging and cutting agents in the home, according to police.
The following individuals were arrested as a result of the investigation, which police said spanned several months:

[naviga:li]Aneudy Del Valle, 30, of 15 Amity St., Apt. 2, was charged with interfering with a search warrant.[/naviga:li]
[naviga:li]Jadelyn Aponte, 38, of 99 Chestnut St., Norwich, was charged with possession of crack cocaine.[/naviga:li]
[naviga:li]Jesus Pinero, 52, of 15 Amity St., Apt. 2, was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell and operating a drug factory.[/naviga:li]
[naviga:li]Mark Szwarda, 60, of 1110 Ocean Ave., New London, was charged with criminal attempt to possess narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.[/naviga:li]
[naviga:li]Roberto Roman, 46, of 15 Amity St., Apt. 2, was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell and operating a drug factory.[/naviga:li]
