Police arrest Grasso Tech student following threatening comment on Facebook

Groton — Police arrested a student Monday after he allegedly posted during a Facebook group chat among students of an automotive class at Ella T. Grasso Technical School that he would "Shoot up the whole shop."

Michael J. Cappiello, 18, of 67 Bayshore Drive, New London, was charged Monday with breach of peace and first-degree threatening.

The mother of a student had contacted Ledyard police, after observing the post. Ledyard police then contacted state Police at Troop E in Montville.

Cappiello told police that he regretted the post and was having a bad day and his friends were annoying him, according to the police report.

Ella T. Grasso Technical School Principal Patricia Feeney was informed of the arrest, according to the report. She could not be reached for comment Monday.
