Stonington police arrest allegedly drunk man for pushing 18-month-old in stroller down middle of street

Stonington — Police arrested a New London man late Saturday night after they say he and two other apparently intoxicated men were pushing a baby stroller down the middle of Stillman Avenue in Pawcatuck with an 18-month-old child inside.

Cody Belanger-Marlo, 24, of 508 Ocean Ave., Apt. 3, New London, was charged with risk of injury to a child and interfering with a police officer. He later was released on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear June 27 in New London Superior Court.

According to a police report, police received a call at 10:30 p.m. about three males pushing a stroller in the middle of the road in the area of Stillman Avenue and Arch Street. Police responded and found the child in the stroller and three males “who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.”

Police said they were able to determine Belanger-Marlo was responsible for the child’s welfare. However when an officer asked him questions about the child, police said “he was not forthcoming and even lied about the child’s name.”

The other two men were not charged.
