Former sailor stationed in New London pleads guilty to enticing minors

A former Navy serviceman stationed in New London pleaded guilty Wednesday in Hartford federal court to enticing minors to perform sexually explicit acts over video chat.

Adam M. Simpson, 29, has been detained since his arrest in January 2014 for possession of child pornography.

He pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of enticing minors.

According to court documents and statements made in court, in 2013 Simpson used photos and videos of young boys to misrepresent himself as a teen on video chat platforms such as Omegle, ooVoo and Skype.

He used the platforms to entice girls between ages 12 and 16 to perform sexual acts, which he recorded and stored on his computer.

Simpson will be sentenced on Sept. 21 and faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years and a maximum sentence of life in prison.
