Motorcyclist flees from Stonington police at more than 100 mph

Stonington — A Pawcatuck motorcyclist who staged parties at an unoccupied Osbrook Point home in 2013, causing thousands of dollars in damage, was arrested Thursday afternoon for fleeing from police at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.

Cullen S. Faulise, 22, of 5 Mystic Ave., was charged with two counts of reckless driving, disobeying the signal of an officer, passing in a no-passing zone, disobeying a traffic control signal, passing on the right, driving without minimum insurance and driving an unregistered motor vehicle.

According to police, they responded to a report of two motorcycles racing on Greenhaven Road about 3:45 p.m. When an officer saw two motorcycles pull up to a stop sign at the intersection of Mary Hall and Greenhaven roads, he pulled in behind them. At that point one of the motorcycles took a right onto Greenhaven Road and fled. The officer followed with his lights and sirens on. The motorcycle passed numerous vehicles in a no-passing zone at speeds in excess of 85 miles per hour. The officer broke off the pursuit. There are numerous homes along the narrow, hilly road.

A short time later the officer spotted the motorcycle at the intersection of Greenhaven Road and Route 1. When he turned on his lights and siren the motorcycle turned east onto Route 1 this time speeding away in excess of 100 mph while weaving in and out of traffic. The officer again broke off the pursuit.

Five minutes later another officer stopped the motorcycle at Palmer Street and Wilford Court. The first officer identified the driver as the one who sped away from him. Police said Faulise told them he fled because the motorcycle was not registered, he had no insurance and his license was suspended.

Last year Faulise was twice convicted of driving with a suspended license after being stopped by Stonington and Westerly police and convicted of reckless driving after being stopped by Mashantucket Tribal police, according to court records.

In 2013, Faulise was granted accelerated rehabilitation and ordered to pay $250 in restitution after police say he was the ringleader who threw parties at the Osbrook Point house when the owners were not there.

The home had been vandalized with dozens of holes up to 3 feet in diameter in the walls, and damage to floors, countertops, doors, thermostats and lights. A rug was burned in front of the fireplace. There was also evidence of parties as smashed bottles, cups, cans, garbage and condoms were strewn about the home. Items were also stolen from the house, which did not have any power, and partygoers had urinated and defecated in the house.

Faulise was also charged in 2013 with breaking into a Mystic garage and stealing beer.
