Multiple area police departments will be boosting their enforcement through the end of this month as part of a nationwide holiday "Click It or Ticket" campaign.

Some departments are beginning their enforcement as early as today, while others will start early next week.

The campaign centers on seat-belt wearing, but also will include increased enforcement of all kinds during the day and night, as well as sobriety checkpoints.

Local departments participating include but aren't limited to: Old Saybrook, East Lyme, Norwich, Stonington and Waterford.

The campaign is sponsored by the state Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office and the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration.
