New London — Detectives are working to make an arrest after finding an unconscious man suffering from serious facial and head injuries in a hallway of the Williams Park Apartments early Thursday, according to police.

Police said they responded to an upper floor hallway of the 127 Hempstead St. apartments about 3:34 a.m. after someone reported an assault had occurred there.

Police, who did not identify the victim, said he was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital. An update on his condition wasn’t available.

Police said it’s possible the involved parties know each other. They called the assault an isolated incident.
