Groton — Traffic on the southbound side on the Gold Star Memorial Bridge was backed up Thursday morning after a crash involving a tractor-trailer occurred there at about 10:45.

The crash, which also involved a car, happened between exits 86 and 84S.

A state Department of Transportation camera showed vehicles initially were getting by only via the farthest left lane as DOT trucks with arrows blocked off the rest of Interstate 95 south.

Upon finding no injuries or serious damage, state police said officials moved the involved vehicles from the bridge to the nearby weigh scale station so the investigation could continue there.

Traffic should return to normal shortly, although previously scheduled construction between exits 86 and 83 will keep the three right lanes closed until about 3 p.m., according to the DOT.
