Groton — Town police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man they said robbed the Super Stop & Shop on Tuesday morning.

Police said a white man entered the 220 Route 12 store about 10:45 a.m. and implied to an employee at the customer service desk that he had a gun.

He demanded money and then fled on foot toward Gold Star Highway with an unspecified amount of cash, police said.

A surveillance photo of the suspect shows the man wearing sunglasses and a dark hooded jacket over a striped shirt.  Police also are looking for a red 2003-'06 Ford pickup truck with damage to the passenger side. The license plate number was unavailable.

Police said they have identified a red Ford pickup truck between the model years of 2003 and 2006 as a vehicle of interest. They said there is damage to the passenger side of the vehicle. No license plate description was available.

Police are asking anyone who can identify the suspect or was in the area of the robbery when it occurred to call them at (860) 441-6712.
