    Two New London men arrested on drug charges in Groton

    Groton — Police arrested two New London men on narcotics charges and confiscated 21.4 grams of crack cocaine on Thursday in Groton.

    Shakim K. Outler, 39, of 48 Warren St., New London, was charged with possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics with intent to sell, according to a police department news release. Rasheem J. Singleton, 35, of 74 Blackhall St., Apt. 1, New London, was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell and three counts of violation of probation, the release said.

    Detectives also seized 24.1 grams of crack cocaine, 1.5 grams of cocaine and $1,411.

    Police arrested the men on Dec. 8 after Groton Town Police, with assistance from the Regional Community Enhancement Task Force, conducted a surveillance of high-crime areas in Groton. Detectives saw a suspicious vehicle and spoke to the driver, Outler, who was found to possess cocaine, the release said.

    Detectives later found Singleton, who had active arrest warrants. He also was found to be in possession of cocaine, the release said.

    Outler was released pending his assigned court appearance. Singleton was held on bond.
