    Police seeking witnesses to fatal I-95 crash in Old Lyme

    Old Lyme — State police are seeking witnesses to the Interstate 95 crash that left a Florida woman dead Sunday afternoon.

    A passenger in the SUV that crashed, Lynda Renee Salek, 71, of Bonita Springs, Fla., died.

    According to police, Heather Ann Otenti, 46, of Bonita Springs, Fla., was driving a black 2004 Ford Expedition northbound in the right lane between exits 70 and 71. At about 1:43 p.m., she lost control, sending the vehicle into the guardrail on the right side of the road and then down a steep embankment.

    Police said the vehicle continued down the embankment before going airborne and then striking a tree.  Otenti sustained injuries that were not life-threatening. An Old Lyme Ambulance crew transported her to Yale New Haven Hospital.

    The crash closed the highway for about four hours Sunday.

    The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Troop F at (860) 399-2100.
