Ledyard — Two were injured, one critically, after a boom lift carrying them tipped Friday afternoon.

Lt. Kenneth Creutz said the occupants, a 54-year-old male and a 33-year-old male, were trimming a tree on the property of 126 Avery Hill Road, a private residence. The lift was fully extended and parked on an incline in the front yard when it fell over onto the house about 3 p.m.

Creutz said both men were treated for their injuries on site before being transported. The 33-year-old man was taken by American Ambulance to Backus Hospital with minor injuries. A Life Star helicopter was dispatched to Ledyard Middle School to transport the 54-year-old man, who sustained critical injuries during the fall, to Hartford Hospital.

An Eversource truck arrived shortly before 4 p.m. to disconnect the wires leading to the house. One lane of Avery Hill Road was closed for several hours due to the service trucks in the area.
