High winds cause morning outages in East Lyme, Old Lyme

East Lyme — About 200 people briefly were without power in the Giants Neck Beach neighborhood Thursday morning, according to Eversource and East Lyme Public Safety officials.

The National Weather Service early Thursday issued a high wind warning for the entire state that calls for steady 15 to 30 mph winds with gusts up to 60 mph. The service warned residents to watch out for falling limbs, trees and power lines and said scattered power outages could occur.

At 6:30 a.m., Eversource's outage map showed Old Lyme had 138 outages. There were only a few outages in other southeastern Connecticut communities.

By 8:30 a.m., few outages remained.

The high wind warning is set to expire at 11 a.m.
